Tour du Mont Blanc – Hiking Around Mont Blanc Massif

The Tour du Mont Blanc is a mythical hiking trail that goes around the Mont Blanc Massif, crossing the borders of France, Italy and Switzerland. It attracts thousands of hikers from all over the world each summer because of its breathtaking views, close encounters with wildlife and the authentic local culture and cuisine.

Here is an example day by day itinerary. This can be modified according to your requirements (could be a bit shorter or longer). Please do get in touch and I will be happy to give you my advice and create a taylor-made itinerary for you.



Day 1
Arrival in Chamonix. Transfer from Geneva airport to your place of accommodation in Chamonix. We will have a short meeting where we will get to know each other and we will discuss the details regarding our upcoming trip.

Day 2
Depart from Les Houches. We will take the Bellevue lift, climb a mountain pass and descend down to the village of Les Contamines, where we will spend the night.

Day 3
From Les Contamines we start the day with a gentle walk to the lovely church Notre Dame de la Gorge, before starting our ascent to Col du Bonhomme mountain pass. We finish the day in Les Chapieux and spend the night in a mountain refuge.

We start the day with a short bus ride to Mottets Refuge. Here we start our ascent of the Col de la Seigne, which marks the border between France and Italy. We descent into Val Veny and the Combal lake from where we can catch a bus for a short ride to Courmayeur. We will have a car with our luggage waiting for us there so we can refill our supplies of snacks and clean clothes.

Day 5
Rest day in Courmayeur. We will walk around the stone paved streets of the beautiful town of Courmayeur. Have a taste of great Italian coffee and food!

Optional: We can catch the SkyWay Monte Bianco Lift that will take us as high as 3500 m above sea level, at the foot of Dent du Geant, from where we will have a stunning panoramic view of the heart of the Mont Blanc Massif.

Day 6
We take a bus ride to Val Ferret in the foot of Grandes Jorasses. We will cross into Switzerland and finish the day in La Fouly or the village of Champex.

Day 7
On this day we will do a challenging ascent to the beautiful mountain pass Fenetre d’Arpette at 2665 above sea level. The view from the top is impressive! Finish the day in the village of Trient.

Day 8
From Trient we climb up to Col de Balme, and we will descent into France, in the village of Le Tour, from where we can take public transport back to Chamonix.

Day 9
A walk in the Aiguille Rouge Natural Reserve and Lac Blanc, from where you can have a panoramic view of the entire Mont Blanc massif. If we are lucky we will encounter some bouquetins along the way. We will descent right back down to Chamonix.

Day 10
Transfer Chamonix – Geneva airport.

The tour can be customized depending on the type of accommodation you prefer – hotels, mountain huts, etc.

Guiding fee
Transportation from/to airport
Accommodation (Half board – breakfast and dinner included)
Transport of luggage (if necessary)
Lift ticket from Les Houches on the first day

Price doesn’t include:
Flight costs
Snacks during the day
Drinks in the hotels/huts
Lift tickets for Skyway Monte Bianco in Courmayeur
Public transport fees (if necessary)
