Splitboard and Ski touring camp Ivan Vazov hut
This trip will take us to a remote area in Rila mountains where we will enjoy the hospitality of the Ivan Vazov hut, situated at 2300 m asl in the Pazar dere valley. We will have the chance to ride some of the surrounding peaks such as Otovitsa 2696 m, Golyam Kalin 2667 m, Damga (Vazov Peak) 2669 m. During this trip we will help you improve your mountaineering skills as well as your riding technique.
Ivan Vazov hut offers basic high mountain accommodation. There is no electricity and no hot water. There is heating in the hut. The guardians offer some food options. Common dormitory style sleeping area. Blankets are provided, sleeping bag liner is recommended.

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Good physical condition is required. Participants must have good level of skiing or snowboarding in off piste terrain. Some experience in ski/splitboard touring is required.
ITINERARY:
- Day 1:
- Meeting at the base of Seven Rila Lakes chair lift at 08:00.
Gear check
We will take the lift to the Seven Rila Lakes hut which is the start of our tour
We will climb and ride down Otovitsa peak and reach Ivan Vazov hut
Planning on the next day
Night in the hut - Day 2:
- If conditions are good we will climb and ride Golyam or Malak Kalin
Back to the hut
Planning on the next day
Night in the hut - Day 3:
- We will make our way back to civilization. We will try to get as many good lines as possible on our way down

Price does not include:
Accommodation*, Splitboard / Ski Touring equipment, avalanche gear – mandatory, transportation, insurance.
Necessary equipment:
- Avalanche equipment (Transceiver, shovel, probe)*
- Splitboard or touring skis + poles*
- Crampons (lightweight ones if possible)*
- Appropriate backpack (around 35+L)
- Appropriate clothing (Gore Tex jacket & pants, down jacket, fleece, thermal underwear)
- Headlamp
- Ski helmet
- Medical insurance
Important information:
- The group will be guided by certified splitboard and ski guides – Nikolay Pavlov, Pavel Peev.
- Maximum 6 participants per 1 Guide.
- Minimum number of participants: 4 Maximum participants: 12.
- Equipment rentals for two days: Splitboard and poles – 180 BGN, snowshoes and poles – 50 BGN, avalanche equipment – 80 BGN, touring ski – 150 BGN.
- In case you don’t have any of the equipment we can help you rent it out.
- Ivan Vazov hut – 35 BGN per night.
- We reserve the right to make changes to itinerary, dates and location in case of bad or inappropriate weather conditions.
