Winter ascent of Koteshki Chal – Koncheto – Vihren
A stunning winter ascent on Pirin’s marble ridge, which is home to some of its highest peaks. Koteshki chal is a technical ridge situated between Duninoto kuche peak 2481 m and Banski Suhodol peak 2884 m. We will spend the night at Koncheto shelter at 2760 m. On the next morning we will cross the Koncheto saddle, traverse the high altitude marble ridge and finish at Vihren peak – Pirin’s highest point at 2914 m.

You need to be in a good physical condition, ability to perform 6-8 hour days. Get in touch with us in case you are unsure about the level.
ITINERARY:
- Day 0:
- Arrival in Bansko. Check in in your accommodation for the night if necessary. Meeting the guide, gear check and briefing for the upcoming tour.
- Day 1:
- We will start early and drive to Peshterite area above Bansko. From there our climb starts. We will reach Duninoto kuche peak and from there we will start our crossing of Koteshki chal, which finishes at Banski Suhodol. Our final goal is Koncheto shelter where we will spend the night. We will talk about the past day while we have dinner and we will go to bed early to get good rest for the next day.
- Time: 7-8 hours / Vertical gain: +1700/-130 m
- Day 2:
- We will enjoy an unforgettable sunrise from one of the highest points in Pirin. Our day will start with a crossing of the Koncheto saddle – a narrow mountain ridge equipped with a steel railing. Then our route passes through Kutelo 1 and 2 peaks, followed by a final climb towards Vihren peak. From there we will go down to Hvoynati peak and Muratovo lake, into the valley above Vihren hut. We can have a lunch break there before we head down to our cars. From there we will have transportation down to Bansko.
Time: 7-8 hours / Vertical gain: +400/-1450 m

Important information
- The event is lead by a qualified Alpine mountain guide.
- Maximum 2 participants per 1 Guide.
- Minimum number of participants: 1 Maximum participants: 2.
- In case you don’t have any of the equipment we can help you rent it out.
- We can recommend a family guesthouse in Bansko.
- We reserve the right to make changes to itinerary, dates and location in case of bad or inappropriate weather conditions.
