Tour Higlights:

No previous hiking experience is required. Trekkers or walkers who is in good physical fitness condition.

ITINERARY:

  • Day 1:
  • Arrival at Sofia airport and 1hr transfer to the mountain village of Govedartsi 1150 m, where we stay overnight. Short hike in the area.
  • Day 2:
  • Today we hike the highest peak in Bulgaria and on the Balkans – Musala 2925 m a.s.l. Short transfer brings us to Borovets ski resort 1390 m, where we take the gondola lift to Yastrebets Peak 2369 ml. The view from the top of Musala peak to the surrounding peaks of Rila Mountains; the marble edges of the Pirin Mountains; Mount Vitosha and the Sredna Gora Mountains; the green summits of the Rodopi Mountains; and the Balkan range is truly breath-taking. Transfer to town of Bansko where we stay overnight.
    Day summary: 6-7 hrs; Ascent: 560 m; Descent: 560 m.
  • Day 3:
  • Transfer to Gotse Delchev hut 1475 m, where we take the chair lift to Bezbog hut 2240m. From the hut we hike Polejan peak 2851m. From the top you can see the biggest and deepest lake in the mountains – Popovo Lake and magnificent panoramic view of Pirin mountain range. On the way back we hike Bezbog peak 2645 m and back to Bezbog hut. Overnight in Bansko.
    Day summary: 4 hrs; Ascent: 750 m; Descent: 750 m.
  • Day 4:
  • Today we hike the highest peak in Pirin Mountains – Mount Vihren 2914m a.s.l. Short transfer brings us to Vihren hut 1950 m a.s.l. On our way to the peak we have various opportunities to enjoy most of the Pirin’s peaks, Vlahini and Bunderishki lakes as well as Edelweiss and many other rare plants flowering in the Karst parts of the mountains. If the weather is good we have lunch on the peak itself, enjoying the amazing scenery. Overnight in Bansko.
    Day summary: 7-8 hrs; Ascent: 970 m; Descent: 970 m.
  • Day 5:
  • Transfer to Prionia 1100m (4-5 hrs), were we start our hike to Kakalos hut at 2650 m, where we spend the night.
    Day summary: 4-5 hrs; Ascent: 550 m
  • Day 6:
  • Today we hike the highest peak in Olimp mountains – Myticas peak 2917 m. It is the second highest on the Balkan peninsula. In the late afternoon we will be back to Prionia and continue with a short transfer to Leptokaria village on Aegean sea coast, where we stay overnight.
    Day summary: 7 hrs; Ascent: 270 m; Descent: 1820 m
  • Day 7:
  • Transfer to Sofia. On the way we stop by the most famous landmark of Bulgaria – Rila Monastery. Sightseeing and leisure hike to the hermitage of St. Ivan Rilski. The next stop nearby is the amazing sand forms near Stob village – The Stob Pyramids. Then we continue to Sofia, where we stay overnight in hotel.
  • Day 8:
  • Transfer to Sofia airport for departure.

  • The trip will be guided by UIMLA certified mountain guides.
  • Maximum 8 participants per 1 guide.
