Climbing Vihren peak via Dzhamdzhiev Ridge

A winter ascent of Pirin’s highest mountain – Vihren 2914 m asl. via Dzhamdzhiev ridge – a stunning alpine adventure.

Dates: 13 December 2025; 4 & 17 January 2026

Difficulty level: Medium

Good physical condition is required. You need to have basic experience in walking in crampons and winter mountaineering. Get in touch in case you have doubts.

ITINERARY:

  • Day 0:
  • Arrival in Bansko on the day before the climb. You will meet your guide, check all the equipment and there will be a briefing for the upcoming day.
    Night in Bansko.
  • Day 1:
  • We will start early with a transfer by car to Bansko ski area, where our approach begins. We will walk around 45 mins to the start of the climb of Dzhamdzhiev ridge. The climb shold take us around 2-4 hours depending on conditions. There are several descend routes, according to weather and snow – Kabata – Vihren hut / Hvoynati peak – Muratovo lake – Vihren hut / back down Dzhamdzhiev ridge. We should be back to the car by early afternoon.
    Hiking time: 8-10 hrs Vertical gain: +1300/-1300m.

Important information

  • The event is lead by a qualified Alpine mountain guide.
  • Maximum 2 participants per 1 Guide.
  • Minimum number of participants: 1 Maximum participants: 2.
  • In case you don’t have any of the equipment we can help you rent it out.
  • We can recommend a family guesthouse in Bansko.
  • We reserve the right to make changes to itinerary, dates and location in case of bad or inappropriate weather conditions.
